Safe Trick-or-Treat and Trunk-or-Treat in Columbus

Safe Trick-or-Treat and Trunk-or-Treat in Columbus

Trunk-or-treat and community trick-or-treating events are a wonderful and safe alternatives for young Columbus kids during the Halloween season.  They are often held during the day and are contained within community centers, downtown areas with road closures, or blocked off parking lots.

We are working on updating this for 2020, but there haven’t been many scheduled yet, pending safety recommendations. We will make the updates as we find them, but many won’t be confirmed until October. As expected, in 2020, events are subject to change at any minute and you should always check links before you attend an event.

2020 Trick or Treat Beggar’s Night in Columbus

Halloween falls on Saturday, October 31, 2020, and most communities avoid holding trick or treat on Friday and Saturday evenings. Therefore, many communities are electing to have trick or treat, or beggar’s night, on Thursday, October 29

As 2020 has gone, schedule is subject to change and cancellation. We’ve added links so you can keep up with any changes. Recommended safety precautions include

  • Everyone wear masks (either as part of a costume, or just as a nose/mouth covering)
  • Don’t allow children to reach into a candy bowl. Candy should be handed out by an adult or put in individual grab bags.
  • Parents should go with children in order to ensure they are following precautions and are waiting their turn at stops
  • Stay in family groups, or within groups with whom you have regular exposure.
  • Sanitize hands frequently
  • Stay home if anyone is the household is feeling sick. Candy isn’t that important. A Halloween candy hunt around the house will entertain any child who has to miss out on trick or treat in 2020.
